Air Consent, officially known as Consent to Establish (CTE) for Air Quality, is an environmental clearance issued by the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) or Union Territory Pollution Control Committee (UTPCC). This document certifies that a facility engaged in air-emitting activities—including manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics operations—complies with ambient air quality standards under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981. For EXIM operations, CTE – Air is particularly critical for warehouses, cold storage facilities, and manufacturing units involved in export processing.
The CTE – Air must be obtained before commencement of operations and is distinct from the Consent to Operate (CTO) issued after the facility becomes operational. Under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) guidelines and the Bharatiya Yantra Ayog framework, this consent ensures that air emissions from your facility remain within permissible limits as per the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
