Advance Authorisation (AA), also known as SION (Self-Issued Ou-turn Notice), is a duty-free import authorization scheme administered by the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023-28. This scheme permits Indian exporters to import raw materials, components, and consumables duty-free for manufacture of export products, without payment of Basic Customs Duty, Integrated GST, and other applicable duties.
The Advance Authorisation regime is specifically designed to enhance the competitiveness of Indian manufacturers in the global market by reducing input costs. It enables manufacturers to source materials at international prices without the burden of Indian tariffs, provided these inputs are used exclusively for production of goods destined for export. The authorization is issued in the form of a document that specifies the quantity, value, and type of inputs that can be imported under the scheme.
