A Free Sale Certificate (FSC) is an official document that certifies a product is freely sold in its country of origin and meets all applicable safety, quality, and regulatory standards. For Indian exporters, the FSC serves as proof that pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food products, cosmetics, and other regulated goods comply with domestic regulations and are permitted for commercial distribution. This certificate is issued by competent government authorities in India and is recognized internationally as evidence of product legitimacy and regulatory compliance.
The FSC is particularly critical for export markets that require documentary proof of a product's legal status in the manufacturing country before granting import authorization. Under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 and the Customs Act, 1962, Indian authorities issue FSCs to facilitate cross-border trade while ensuring consumer protection standards are maintained globally.
