SCIP Notification (Substance of Concern and Information Portal) is a mandatory regulatory requirement under the REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and related EU chemical regulations. Indian exporters of chemical substances, articles, and mixtures to the European Union must notify the presence of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) through the SCIP portal when specific thresholds are met. This notification mechanism ensures transparency in the supply chain and enables authorities to track hazardous substances across borders.
The SCIP database, administered by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), requires Indian manufacturers and exporters to declare substances that exceed 0.1% weight per weight (w/w) in articles supplied to EU markets. Compliance with SCIP notification is a prerequisite for continued market access to the European Union and demonstrates adherence to international chemical safety standards mandated under the REACH Regulation (EC) 1907/2006.
