Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Certification is a mandatory regulatory compliance document required for electrical and electronic equipment exported from India. It certifies that the equipment meets electromagnetic compatibility standards and does not cause harmful electromagnetic interference to other devices or networks. Under the Customs Act 1962 and FTP 2023-28, EMC certification ensures that exported products comply with international electromagnetic compatibility directives, particularly those aligned with the European Union's EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and equivalent global standards.
EMC certification validates that your electrical equipment operates reliably without causing or susceptibility to electromagnetic disturbances. This certification is issued by NABL-accredited (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) test laboratories in India authorized by the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) or equivalent regulatory bodies. The certification covers conducted and radiated emissions, immunity to electromagnetic fields, and compliance with relevant Indian Standards (IS) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.
