The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) Certificate of Origin is an official document that certifies that goods exported from India to the United Arab Emirates meet the rules of origin requirements stipulated under the India-UAE CEPA framework, which became effective on May 1, 2022. This certificate enables eligible Indian exporters to claim preferential tariff treatment in the UAE market, reducing or eliminating applicable customs duties on qualifying products.
The CEPA Certificate of Origin is issued by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI), Government of India, through designated issuing authorities and chambers of commerce registered with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). It serves as proof that the product originates in India and satisfies the specific value addition, processing, or manufacturing criteria established under the CEPA agreement. Without this certificate, exporters cannot claim preferential rates in the UAE.
